Gatefold Heart Valentine

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

This luxury Valentine’s Day card is really effective with hearts overlapping the flaps making this an unusual and beautiful card for that special person! Click on the image below for a larger view of the card.

What you need to make this card:

1. Sheet of white, pink, cream or ivory A4 card
2. Red mirror card
3. Die-Cut Decoupage Sheet – Mother’s Day / Romantic #875
4. To My Valentine Peel Off Sheet- Gold
5. Classic Corners Peel Off Sheet – Gold
6. Double Sided Sticky Tape
7. Sticky Foam Pads
8. Craft knife, cutting mat & ruler
9. Card making board

How to make this card:

Take an A4 piece of card and using the card making board make it into an A4 gatefold card blank.

Cut two pieces of red mirror card to cover each of the front flaps of the card blank and stick them on using double sided sticky tape.

One decoupage image is used to make the 2 co-ordinating hearts. Take images B1 and B2 from the decoupage sheet. Using double sided sticky tape, stick image B1 to the upper half of the left hand card flap so the heart & roses image overlaps the edge of the card blank by around an inch. Do the same with image B2 but stick this heart & roses image to the bottom half of the right hand card flap so the image overlaps the edge of the card blank by around an inch.

Take the two smaller B3 images from the decoupage sheet and using sticky foam pads stick them to the top heart in the appropriate places. Take the larger B3 image and the B4 image and use sticky foam pads to stick them to the bottom heart.

Take one set of ‘To My Valentine’ wording and carefully snip with scissors to separate the ‘To My’ words from the ‘Valentine’ word. Apply the ‘To My’ wording onto the top heart and the ‘Valentine’ word onto the bottom heart in the blank spaces.

Finally place a gold corner peel off in each of the four corners of the card.

Trio Gold Hearts Valentine

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

This card design uses a craft punch and ribbon to make a beautiful ribbon border. Easy to make with a luxurious look!

You can easily transform this card into an Anniversary card, a Wedding Day card or even a Wedding Invitation by changing the wording peel off and perhaps the ribbon colour.

Click on the image below for a larger view of the card.

What you need to make this card:

1. 7″x5″ White Card Blank
2. Long Reach Punch – Ribbon
3. 15mm Wide Red Organza Ribbon
4. Gold Nesting Hearts Die-Cut Embellishments
5. Just For You Peel Off Sheet – Gold
6. Double Sided Sticky Tape
7. Sticky Foam Pads
8. Craft Glue
9. Scissors

Directions to make this card:

Use the long reach ribbon punch to punch 7 sets of slots along the left hand side of the card blank. Only punch through the front side of the card. The slots have been punched about 1/2″ in from the fold edge of the card and start approximately 1/2″ up from the bottom of the card. The distance between each set of slots is 1″ measured from the centre of a set of slots to the centre of the next set of slots.

Next cut a 8.5″ (22cm) length of the red organza ribbon. Starting from the bottom of the card thread the ribbon in through the first slot and then in and out of all the punched slots. Pull the ribbon so you have even lengths left over at the top and bottom of the card. Fold the ribbon over the top and the bottom of the card and secure inside with double sided sticky tape.

Next cut  another length of the ribbon and use it to tie a ribbon bow. Trim the ends of the bow so they are even and then stick the bow on the top of the ribbon border using a 5mm sticky foam pad.

Select 3 of the die-cut nesting hearts and take the large outer heart and smaller inner heart for each one. Use craft glue or tiny sticky foam pads to stick the hearts diagonally down the card as shown in the picture with the small hearts inside the larger hearts.

Finish the card off with a Just For You peel off wording sticker in the top right hand corner and three mini peel off sticker hearts in the bottom left corner.
